Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, is an American actor. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well in ABC's Lost TV show. The couple had separated and she relocated with her mother into Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the video on-demand show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002, she was awarded a Young Artist Award in 2002 due to her role as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of 15 year aged Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to take home the award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main actor for the first two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. The show ended in 2005 and Grace would like to be as a film actress, and had been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. She appeared in 2013's six-season of Californication. She plays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars who captures the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as an early teenager, when she appeared in small roles in several films by her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 popular film Donnie Darko. She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the love story Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. She was recognized as the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang and Hysteria. Her other roles include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in the film Frank (2014) and The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her professional career as screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021, when she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
